Shark Bay Wind and Water Association Inc. in collaboration with Shire of Shark Bay, Gascoyne Development Commission, Volunteers Marine Rescue, Shark Bay Kite Surfing, Business & Tourism Association is proud to bring you The Shark Bay Downwinders 2023.

Experience the wonders of the World Heritage listed area and enjoy the Kitesurfing, wind and water events that will take place over two fun filled days!

Saturday 7 January 2023 – Denham Foreshore

• 10km Family Downwinder*
• 40km Kitesurf Downwinder*
• The Shark Bay Downwinders Party @Ocean Park (DJ, Award Ceremony, Raffle Draw, Dinner)

* Wind Dependent – Times and details will be confirmed with ALL registered participants in the lead up to the day.

Sunday 8 January 2023 – Denham Foreshore (No registrations required)

• Wind and Water sports fun day with free Sausage sizzle
  • Kite, Wing demos and free introductory sessions
    • Sign up for sessions on the day
  • SUPs, Kayaks available for use

Downwinder Options:

1) 40 km Downwinder Race (Twin-tip or Surf board)

• Registration: $99

Available to Kiteboarding Australia members, purchase tickets here online which includes:

• Timing chip (hire)
• Race entry
• Kite Boarding Australia Insurance coverage
• Safety & Rescue Service
• Free Shuttle Service
• Free Event T-shirt
• Free entry to The Shark Bay Downwinders Party incl. Dinner
• Prizes for podium places

2) 10 km Fun Downwinder (Kite Twin-tip, Surf board, Kayak, Canoe, Wings or SUP)

• Registration: FREE – open to everyone, but MANDATORY to participate

Get into the fun and join with family and friends or form a team!  Registration includes:

• Free Shuttle Service for participants and gear to Ocean Park
• Safety & Rescue Service
• Kite Boarding Australia Insurance coverage

 2023 Prize Pool:

• 40km Downwinder race:
  • 1st place: Brand new Kite
  • 2nd place: Brand new Kite Board
  • 3rd place: Brand new Harness
• 10km Fun Downwinder:
  • Prizes will be awarded for “Best of” categories
• Raffle Draw for everyone:
